Ruben Amorim currently against Kobbie Mainooโ€™s Napoli transfer

Napoliโ€™s attempts to secure Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo are facing significant resistance, primarily from manager Ruben Amorim, who is reportedly raising an objection against the youngsterโ€™s departure despite giving him limited minutes.

Reports from Il Mattino, relayed by CN24, indicate that Mainoo is a top priority for the Partenopeiโ€™s January transfer window. Napoliโ€™s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has been in frequent contact with the 20-year-oldโ€™s staff, and the player himself is said to be totally open to the move.

Mainoo is reportedly keen to guarantee himself a protagonist role in the second half of the season to cement his place in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup, having seen his playing time severely restricted at Old Trafford.

In a twist, teammate Scott McTominay is reportedly using his influence to advise Mainoo about the transfer.

However, despite United being in dire form and Amorim barely using the midfielder, the Portuguese coach has vetoed any January sale. This decision is proving highly damaging to Napoliโ€™s hopes, as the club faces a major obstacle in trying to prise one of Unitedโ€™s prized assets away from Old Trafford.
