Timothy Weahโs agent Badou Sambague has blasted Juventus for treating players unfairly despite their contributions.
GOAL.com reports an interview where Sambague is exposing Juventusโ โselfishโ transfer department. He said: โItโs a disgrace. Weah is a fantastic player and a fantastic teammate. To see people acting like this for money and because they are selfish has disappointed me a lot.โ
A report by La Gazzetta dello Sport revealed Juventus received offers from Nottingham Forest for Weah and Samuel Mbangula for a combined fee of โฌ25 million. The American forward was not named in the matchday squad for The Bianconeriโs Club World Cup game against Manchester City to force him out of the club this summer.
Weah and Mbangula posted cryptic messages on their respective social media handles when the developments were happening behind the scenes to show their displeasure about Juventusโ handling of players.ย
With Juventus set to raise funds this summer from transfers, they might feel the need to offload certain key players in a desperate move. However, the ill-treatment of players, who have contributed to the growth of the club in recent times, is completely unacceptable.
Quite the same has happened in the cases of youth players at the Bianconeri as well and the most relevant example is that of Dean Huijsen. Beyond him, Nicolo Fagioli was frozen out of the squad and loaned out to Fiorentina and similar circumstances went down for Fabio Miretti.
This is something that a club of Juventusโ grace and class should not resort to. Even if they do, there are much different ways of making it clear that a player is up for sale.ย
