According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan is closely monitoring the impressive progress of midfielder Aleksandar Stanković—the youngest son of club legend Dejan Stanković—who is currently on loan at Club Brugge, with an eye toward a strategic re-signing that would fend off interest from the Premier League.
Stanković has excelled this season, with his strong performances, including a standout showing against Barcelona in the Champions League, drawing attention from major English clubs, specifically Tottenham and Newcastle.
The Financial Blueprint to Beat Competition
Inter’s plan is designed to bring the highly-rated talent back to Milan and capitalize on the buy-back clauses negotiated with Club Brugge. This strategy ensures Inter controls the player’s future, allowing them to bypass the interest from rival clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle, whose interest is currently in “standby.”
Stanković was sold to Club Brugge last summer for €10 million, securing an immediate capital gain for Inter. However, the deal included two specific re-purchase clauses: Inter can exercise an option to re-sign Stanković in the summer of 2026 for €23 million, or they can bring him back in the summer of 2027 for €25 million.
The report suggests Inter is likely to activate the first option in the summer of 2026, saving them a marginal €2 million while securing the player’s services a year earlier. This move would provide a strong long-term solution in the midfield, potentially serving as a replacement for Hakan Çalhanoğlu, should the Turk’s position need “re-evaluation” at the end of the season.
