Atalanta closing in on Udineseโ€™s Thomas Kristensen and why it is a great deal

ย

Serie A side Atalanta have been keen on making a major defensive signing and names like Jean-Clair Todibo and Alessio Romagnoli were in the fray. Now, a move for Udineseโ€™s Thomas Kristensen is edging closer.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that work is ongoing to find an agreement over a permanent transfer.

Atalantaโ€™s offer for the player is at โ‚ฌ22 million plus โ‚ฌ3 million in bonuses andย aย 10% share of the capital gain from the playerโ€™s future sale being given to the Friulians.ย

Berat Djimsitiโ€™s move to the Middle East has accelerated the deal and an initial bid for Kristensen has already been rejected by Udinese.

The turning point of discussions came on Thursday, when Atalanta believed it was the right time to make offers. La Dea sporting director Cristiano Guintoli has been a big fan of the Dane and is playing a crucial role in the deal going through.

Deal could be great

For a while, Kristensen has been seen as a player who could be the next big exit from Udinese and that has now proved true. He would be an important player for Atalanta and could even start quite regularly. This would raise his value further and Kristensenย  could then be a player who can later make a big move away from Bergamo too.
