Several Serie A sides have been linked with a move for Tottenhamโs Guglielmo Vicario and the player is actively seeking to depart the London club.
Today, La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported some details behind the situation, making it clear that the Italian is now Juventusโ preferred choice for the keeper signing, with a move for Dibu Martinez looking next to impossible.
They add background to Vicarioโs situation too, reiterating Roberto De Zerbiโs comments that he did have conversations with several Tottenham players in April, especially those that were looking for summer exits. He asked them for a good end to the season and this will help them seek an exit.
Some weeks ago, the Italian said: โTo those who asked me to leave, I told them to help me save the team and then I would help them leave. I never called anyone this summer to convince them to stay. I respect the decision of someone like Romero, someone like Vicario.โ

Player wanted to leave in 2025
Further, it is reported that the keeper had initially decided to leave Tottenham last summer, even if the English giants did win the Europa League in 2025. Something in the relationship had broken by then and the Italian grew convinced about the decision as the 2025/26 campaign progressed.
He struggled and often faced the fury of the fans and is now keen on leaving this summer. De Zerbi is a big admirer of the Italy internationalโs attitude and he couldโve played him by the end of the season. But Antonin Kinskyโs rise meant that it made little logical sense to remove him from the starting spot.
Vicario is now keen on returning to the Serie A and this was his decision even before De Zerbi arrived. Now, he is waiting for progress in a possible move to Juventus.
