Barcelonaโ€™s Robert Lewandowski speaks out on Serie A transfer

Barcelonaโ€™s Robert Lewandowski has been linked with a switch to the Serie A in recent weeks and the player was questioned about the links recently.

The Polish striker spoke to Gazzetta dello Sportโ€™s SportWeek supplement and he was asked about his future and whether he has previously been close to a switch to the Serie A.

His current contract at Barcelona runs out in the summer, with the Catalan side yet to commit to a potential renewal.

The veteran told the Italian outlet that he isnโ€™t thinking about his next possible destination yet.

He said โ€“ via Calciomercato: โ€œHonestly, thereโ€™s nothing to say about my future todayย , Iโ€™m being sincere. The goal is to get to the end of the season with as many wins, goals and titles as possible. Thenย weโ€™ll see. Iโ€™m not thinking about it and I havenโ€™t decided, itโ€™s not a priority at the moment.โ€

He revealed that Genoa did try to sign him during his time at Borussia Dortmund and they had also scouted him extensively, even if nothing off it.

โ€œHave you ever been close to Serie A? In 2010, I was still in Poland and was about to join Borussia Dortmund. Genoa wanted to sign meย , so they invited me to a match against Sampdoria. I was curious to see what the club, the stadium, and the atmosphere were like. Also to be fair to those who had shown interest in me, I came to watch the derby at Marassi. Thatย was the only time Iโ€™ve ever dealt with an Italian team.โ€

He also had praise for the Serie A and how competitive the general nature of the game is in Italy.

โ€œI see the Italian league as very competitiveย , itโ€™s usually hard-fought and the same team doesnโ€™t always win. Inย the Champions Leagueย you had Juventus in the finals and then Inter in the finals,ย it doesnโ€™t seem to be in crisis to me.โ€

This does appear to be a signal from Lewandowski to potentially Juventus and Milan to make moves for him. Usually, a player at a Spanish club is unlikely to speak to the Italian press unless there is a transfer goal in mind.
