Juventusโs search for a right-back could be over this summer, as one of two options have been touted to sign for Luciano Spallettiโs Bianconeri.
With plans set for big-budget improvements in other positions, the recruitment team are reportedly working hard at Continassa to sift through viable free agent options in defence.
Confidence is reportedly low in Joao Marioโs capability at right-back, so much so, that the untested Filip Kostic emerged from the bench against Napoli to take up the position instead.ย
The two names in the limelight are currently Romaโs Zeki Celik and Celta Vigoโs Oscar Mingueza.ย Celik has risen to the top of the list of favourites because he knows Serie A and wouldnโt need to settle in, unlike Mingueza, who would be a relative stab in the dark like Joao Marioโs move from Porto last summer. Bournemouthโs Marco Senesi is another candidate with his contractโs expiry.
While Juve look to be sifting through free transfer opportunities to avoid burdening their budget with signings, they also having several salaries to offload.
Most notably, Dusan Vlahovic is in the final year of his contract, as are Weston McKennie and Kostic. Discussions about a renewal may open up for some of them, but overall, the intention is to rebalance the squad.
