Cesc Fabregas backs Chelsea loanee Robert Sanchez to shine at Como

Serie A side Como signed Robert Sanchez from Chelsea late in the summer after the Spaniard had a much-maligned spell with the London side. He has now been backed to make a mark at the lakeside club.

After an error-strewn start to the Premier League season, Sanchez made his first start for Como against Parma at the weekend.

Manager Cesc Fabregas was asked about the arrival from Chelsea and he feels glad he can now rotate in the keeper position too.

He told the press โ€“ via Calciomercato: โ€œRobert Sanchez is a player who comes from a very important team, heโ€™s won trophies and is under constant pressureโ€ฆ There, you have to always win. It was a great opportunity to always win. Since heโ€™s arrived, itโ€™s perfect for me; we didnโ€™t expect it at the start. For me, thatโ€™s the important thing.โ€

He further emphasised on the Spaniardโ€™s importance, noting how difficult the keeper position can be.

โ€œIf Butez or Sanchez play, maybe itโ€™ll be due to fatigue or the concentration of the match. They fall to the ground a hundred times a day, itโ€™s tough with so many games. I think itโ€™s important. It was a test; itโ€™s the first time Butez hasnโ€™t played in a year and a half. But if we want this dynamic in some matchesโ€ฆ Itโ€™ll be based on feeling. It wonโ€™t happen in every match, but it will happen.โ€

For now, it feels like Fabregas is happily rotating between Jean Butez and Sanchez. The Chelsea loanee got the chance to play against Parma as the Frenchman had started against Leipzig in the Champions League.

This should hand both players enough minutes and it will only help Sanchez. He is playing in a stable environment where his ability on the ball could rise to the fore once again.ย
