Cesc Fabregas questions Gasperiniโ€™s sportsmanship as Roma boss refuses to shake hands after Como defeat

Como beat Roma 2-1 on Sunday with several flashpoints, including Wesleyโ€™s dismissal amidst the hostsโ€™ comeback, ending the game in fractious circumstances.

The Larianiโ€™s head coach, Cesc Fabregas, commented on Gian Piero Gasperiniโ€™s decision not to acknowledge him after the final whistle as the experienced managerโ€™s frustrations seemingly got the better of him.

โ€œI found it unsporting. Whether Iโ€™m angry, or sent off, or even when I think the referee has wronged me, at the end of the match I go and shake hands with the opponent. Itโ€™s a question of respect and sportsmanship, and I was disappointed by what happened.

โ€œI repeat, even when you lose the match, you go and shake hands with the opponent. When I see a colleague of mine leave without saying goodbye, I feel sad, but thatโ€™s how it went.โ€

The 38-year-old Catalan manager recalled the situation in more depth, continuing: โ€œI went to say goodbye to him like I always do, and I watched him leave. I come from another country, and I have to get used to these things. When we play, everything is fine, and we fight, but then when the match is over, for me itโ€™s all over, and we always shake hands.

โ€œRecently, Iโ€™ve also done things Iโ€™m not proud of, but I think we have to set an example. Letโ€™s always remember that the boys are watching us. The club is already in a bad moment, and we have the duty to set the right example.โ€
