Serie B side Juve Stabia have announced former Chelsea boss Avram Grant as their new Head of Football Operations today.
The Wasps took to social media to explain the Israeli managerโs new role a day after their 1-0 win over Entella.
In an official statement, the club declared that, โGrant will oversee Solmateโs sporting activities, while the company continues to focus on streamlining and increasing its operational efficiency. Avram brings unparalleled football experience, having coached teams in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Africa.โ
Solmate are the owners of Juve Stabia and are based in the United Arab Emirates. Grant will take on the responsibilities previously managed by Dan J. McClory and Alberto Libanori in his new role over Ignazio Abateโs team.
So, just how has Grant found himself working in Italyโs second tier?
Grant was already working as an advisor with the clubโs new ownership, and now goes one better following the completion of his last managerial job with Zambia.
The 70-year-old Grant led the Israeli national team from 2002 to 2005, and in 2007, Roman Abramovich appointed him as sporting director of Chelsea. Subsequently, with Jose Mourinhoโs departure, he replaced the Special One in the dugout to lead the Blues to the Champions League final.
They then lost this to Manchester United on penalties, after John Terryโs penalty slip took the trophy to Old Trafford.
Grantโs managerial CV also boasts tenures at Portsmouth, West Ham, Partizan Belgrade, and Ghana. The Israeli left his post with Zambia in October of last year following a series of poor performances and failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
