Serie A side Inter haven’t quite made progress in their attempts to renew Hakan Calhanoglu. Turkish interest has constantly lingered around the midfielder, which isn’t helping the situation whatsoever.
Despite that, Inter aren’t exactly alarmed by the idea of losing him. They have plans in place and it is closely related to their interest in Cagliari’s Alessandro Romano.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the young midfielder’s performances are already being monitored and Inter have liked what they have seen in the first five league games.
He is seen as the perfect fit for what the Nerazzurri want in a new signing, especially in midfield. When it comes to Calhanoglu, nothing is fully certain yet about his situation.
He could sign a new deal or could also depart. The situation is well in the balance and Inter are making significant evaluations about how to proceed with the scenario. Romano is seen with quite a bit of interest and it could definitely grow, as the months float by.
Generally, Inter do seem alert to the idea of having a younger core of midfielders. This is why they landed Curtis Jones and got Aleksandar Stankovic back from Club Brugge. Romano would fit the bill, as he too is playing in a 3-5-2 system at Cagliari.
