Inter have identified the return of Aleksandar Stankovic as the primary solution to replace Hakan Calhanoglu, as the Turkish midfielder edges closer to a summer departure.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are intent on executing the buyback clause included in the deal that saw the 20-year-old join Club Brugge. Inter hold a fixed option to bring the midfielder back to the San Siro for โฌ23m during the 2026 window. While this figure is set to rise to โฌ25m in 2027, the management plans to finalize the operation this year to ensure a good transition in the middle of the park.
The potential sale of Calhanoglu to Galatasaray would provide the necessary capital to fund the Stankovic homecoming. The Serbian is a known entity within the Appiano Gentile, having previously developed under the guidance of Cristian Chivu during their successful stint together with the Primavera.
With Calhanogluโs future increasingly tied to a move to Turkey, Inter are moving decisively to secure a replacement who already understands the clubโs philosophy and tactical demands.
