Inter not keen on signing Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez

Inter have distanced themselves from a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Dibu Martinez, despite recent reports suggesting contact with the Argentine’s representatives.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are not interested in Martinez’s profile and have no active negotiations for the 33-year-old. While the World Cup winner is expected to leave Birmingham this summer, his future will not be in the blue and black of Milan.

Instead, Inter have identified Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario as their primary target to succeed Yann Sommer. The 29-year-old Italian international is seen as the ideal fit due to both his age and his proven ability in Serie A. Vicario was reportedly very close to joining Inter before his move to London, and while he values his experience in the Premier League, he is said to be keen on a return to Italy should the right opportunity with a top club like Inter arise.

The Inter hierarchy has been monitoring Vicario for months, and he remains the clear frontrunner for the starting spot in goal for the 2026/27 campaign.
