Juventus reiterate faith in Luciano Spalletti but squad in retreat

Serie A side Juventus fell to a rather dull 2-0 defeat to Genoa on Wednesday and this is naturally going to pile the pressure further onto Luciano Spalletti. Today, there have been doubts about the Italianโ€™s future, with several names being mentioned as replacements.

But for now, Juventus want to support Spalletti and La Gazzetta dello Sport note that he will stay as the manager.

At the same time though, the squad has gone into retreat, with training set to start tomorrow. This will give the squad a chance to assess the situation, look inwards and then turn things around. Spalletti has been vocal about the problems around players and there is hope that a retreat can help the side.

CEO Giovanni Carnevali had a meeting with the team today, in the aftermath of the loss. He firmly made it clear to captain Bremer that results need to turn around soon and the attitude of players also needs to change.

Juveโ€™s next game will see them take on Napoli. Spalletti will keep his job until then and if things still donโ€™t change despite the โ€˜ritiroโ€™ action could be taken by Juventus.
