Lazio are intensifying their efforts to secure Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a marquee signing for Maurizio Sarri’s midfield. According to Daniele Longo, the Biancocelesti have already made contact with the player’s representatives to explore the feasibility of a deal, funded by the €30 million windfall from Taty Castellanos’ move to West Ham.
Notably, the operation’s structure is currently being debated, as Loftus-Cheek’s €4 million net salary at Milan is deemed too high for Lazio’s wage cap. Consequently, the capital club is attempting to bridge the gap by offering a lower base salary supplemented by significant signing bonuses and performance-related add-ons. Indeed, Sarri is reportedly the driving force behind the move, eager to reunite with a player he previously mentored during their time together at Chelsea.
Furthermore, Milan’s stance remains firm: they are under no pressure to sell the Englishman. Max Allegri continues to view the “colossus” as a reliable part of his tactical setup, even utilizing him in an advanced second-striker role during the recent victory over Cagliari. While the Rossoneri haven’t completely shut the door on a departure, they have signaled that it would take a “significant offer”—likely exceeding €10 million—for them to even consider a transfer.
As things stand, Milan are comfortable keeping the midfielder, meaning Lazio will need to present a substantial financial package to convince the Diavolo to part ways with the 29-year-old.
