Lazio’s Matteo Guendouzi nearing Fenerbahce move

Lazio are on the verge of a significant midfield shake-up, with Matteo Guendouzi increasingly close to joining Fenerbahçe. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the negotiations have accelerated rapidly following the Turkish club’s formal proposal.

Notably, the deal is expected to be worth approximately €25 million plus €2 million in bonuses, totaling a €27 million package. The French midfielder has reportedly already reached an agreement on personal terms, with a five-year contract worth €4 million net per season awaiting him in Istanbul. This departure follows the high-profile sale of Taty Castellanos to West Ham for €30 million, a move that has fundamentally altered Lazio’s strategy for the winter window.

Furthermore, with Guendouzi’s exit looming and the Castellanos funds secured, the Biancocelesti have shifted their focus toward reinforcing the middle of the park. Indeed, the club now intends to sign two new midfielders to bolster Maurizio Sarri’s options. The primary targets identified are Lazar Samardžić of Atalanta and Giovanni Fabbian of Bologna, as Lazio look to reinvest their significant January windfalls into young, dynamic talent.

Consequently, the coming days will be decisive as Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani look to finalize the outgoing operations and pivot immediately toward securing their replacements.
