Maurizio Sarri set for key meeting with Atalanta

Serie A giants Napoli have been working to sign Maurizio Sarri as a replacement for Antonio Conte but Atalanta are now also very much in the chase.

Raffaele Palladinoโ€™s future is up in the air, which could led to La Dea looking for a new manager.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Atalanta will have a meeting with Sarri tomorrow to determine whether they can hire the Italian for next season. Initial contact has taken place and while Sarri has clarified that he wants to take time to look at other offers but the Azzurri donโ€™t want to wait for too long.

After the meeting, Sarri will have 48 hours to decide, with Palladino already feeling that the next game against Fiorentina will be the last of his time at the club.

Napoli have also kept the door open and have spoken to him in the last few months. Everything will now depend on what decision Sarri takes in the next few days.

Atalanta might be better choice

Sarri may have an emotional connection with Napoli and it might be a more ambitious project but Atalanta might be a better decision.

La Dea are used to have radical managers and backing them to the hilt. Sarri didnโ€™t have that at Lazio, where there was constant off-pitch chaos that refused to let him play his way, instill his ideas and take his team to the next level.

Atalanta would be the direct opposite and theyโ€™re a much more football-oriented club. The purist in Sarri might want that now.
