Max Allegri responds to Real Madrid talk: โ€œIโ€™m happy at Milanโ€

Serie A giants Milan have seen Max Allegri get linked with a move to Real Madrid over the last week or so. The Italian has now responded to speculation about his long-term future.

Reports have claimed that Allegri will discuss his future with the Rossoneri towads the end of the campaign. A lot will depend on whether he is handed a central role in the clubโ€™s project or not and he is also seeking a major say in planning and transfers from next season onwards.

While this will be key towards his stay, Allegri was asked about Real Madrid ahead of the Rossoneriโ€™s big clash against Inter on Sunday.

He said: โ€œI have a contract with Milan until 2027. The future is tomorrow and then next Sunday. Iโ€™m fine at Milan, Iโ€™m very happy. We started a new path in July and the club is working well, but until the objective is reached we must remain in the present.โ€

Allegri clarified that the clubโ€™s goal for the season is to seal qualification for the Champions League, denying talk of a late title charge.

โ€œWe havenโ€™t achieved anything, this must be clear to everyone. Only Champions League qualification matters.โ€

This should come as a sigh of relief for Milan fans, who saw their side in a possible title race as recently as some weeks ago. That challenge didnโ€™t last long but it took them over four months to lose a league game after the opening day loss to Cremonese.

That indeed is a sign of progress, especially considering how last season progressed.ย
