Serie A side Milan fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Lazio and now, Max Allegriโs agent has appeared to have taken a dig at Rafael Leao.
The Portuguese was quite disappointing on Sunday and was also taken off because of that. Allegri protected the attacker, who hasnโt always had an excellent relationship with the Rossoneri boss.
There have been suggestions about Leaoโs potential new deal at the San Siro, where he could still stay in the long term.
Allegriโs agent Giovanni Branchini has now spoken to Radio Anchโio Sport about the Portugal internationalโs situation and whether he will stay at Milan or not.
He said โ relayed by Calciomercato: โShould Milan still focus on Leao?ย The corporate dynamics are complex, Leao is an asset to the club and therefore various factors must be considered.โ
Branchini then appeared to take a dig at Leao but also made it clear that he needs to be protected exactly how Allegri has been operating.
โThis year he is not making a great contribution, it is clear for everyone to see. He remains an important player and must be defended until the end, as Allegri did yesterday after the match, despite the abrupt outcome of the substitution.โ
So far this season, the attacker has scored only nine goals in Serie A. While that isnโt a bad amount, it is easy to see why many expect more from Leao considering his qualities and stature.
