Milan intensify contacts for Barcelonaโ€™s Robert Lewandowski

AC Milan have significantly intensified their search for a new starting striker, with Robert Lewandowski emerging as a concrete target.

According to Daniele Longo, the Rossoneri have deepened their discussions with the Polish internationalโ€™s entourage following an initial enquiry, formally expressing a keen interest in bringing the veteran forward to San Siro.

Notably, the operation remains complex due to the financial parameters involved. Lewandowski currently earns a gross salary of approximately โ‚ฌ20 million per season, a figure that is far beyond Milanโ€™s current wage structure. To facilitate a move to Italy, the 37-year-old would be required to accept a substantial pay cut, with the proposed terms sitting at around โ‚ฌ7 million net per year.

Furthermore, the competition is not limited to Europe, as MLS side Chicago Fire have also registered their interest in securing the strikerโ€™s services.

Indeed, the success of the pursuit now hinges on the playerโ€™s personal desire to continue competing at the highest level in Europe. While Milan have laid out their project and financial capabilities, Lewandowski is yet to provide a definitive response regarding his willingness to join the club. The management views him as the ideal profile to provide immediate leadership and guaranteed goals, but the move remains at a preliminary stage until the player clarifies his intentions.

Consequently, the coming weeks will determine whether Milan can pull off one of the most high-profile transfers of the summer. The expectation right now is that Lewandowski will depart Barcelona and is looking for a new destination.
