Milan make key progress for Benficaโ€™s Antonio Silva, Monday key

ย

Serie A side Milan sealed a move for Goncalo Ramos this week and are making quick progress in a move for Benficaโ€™s Antonio Silva too now.

The centre-back has been linked with a move to Italy for years now but now could be the time when it finally goes through.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan have raced forward for the defender. The move has accelerated, mainly thanks to Jorge Mendes, who will contact Benfica on Monday (tomorrow) to potentially finalise the deal.

His contract expires in 2027, a situation that wonโ€™t allow the Portuguese club to overcharge for him. Benfica had also attempted to initiate negotiations regarding a renewal, but these negotiations failed to yield concrete results. Silva had also been a target for Juventus before Damien Comolliโ€™s time at the club ended.

Amorim likely to benefit

It feels like Mendesโ€™ involvement is helping Amorim, who himself was hired because of the super-agentโ€™s involvement. Mendesโ€™ involvement has attracted criticism at Milan but this could be one of those deals that actually improves the squad, which canโ€™t be said for several signings made in the last few years.
