Napoli legend Lorenzo Insigne set for Pescara return

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Pescara are closing in on Lorenzo Insigneโ€™s return. The 34-year-old Napoli icon heads back to Italy following 2025โ€™s departure from Toronto FC.

The diminutive Insigne first wore the Pescara colours in the 2011-12 season, scoring 18 goals in 37 appearances for the white and blues in a loan move from Gli Azzurri.

Fourteen years later, his great comeback has seemingly materialised. He is believed to have signed a six-month contract with an extension if the club stays in the second tier.

Negotiations have reportedly been ongoing for a month, with the decision only being made yesterday. The determiner? The seasoned forward wanted to return to a place he felt comfortable.

After talks with club president Daniele Sebastiani, Insigne specifically stated that if he received no Serie A offers, he would choose Pescara and a return to the Stadio Adriatico.

Insigne is now expected to be officially welcomed back tomorrow, 14 years after his last appearance with the now-Serie B club. His relationship with Marco Verratti and Foggiaโ€™s sporting director will also be crucial in this latest spell.
