Napoli set return date for star man Scott McTominay from injury

Serie A side Napoli have set an expected return date for Scott McTominay following his recovery from injury.

According to a report by Corriere dello Sport via Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli head coach Antonio Conte and McTominay have met recently to discuss a possible date for the Scotsman to feature in the starting eleven.

A persistent tendon issue has kept the former Manchester United midfielder out of Partenopei’s matches for a few weeks, but he is finally on the road to recovery and should reach 100% fitness soon. Conte is reluctant to take any unnecessary risks regarding McTominay’s injury and, therefore, will not include him in his squad for Napoli’s fixture against Hellas Verona this Saturday.

The 29-year-old is set to return to the pitch during the Neapolitans’ home match against Torino in March.

Napoli see McTominay as a valuable long-term member of the squad, and so they did not want to rush him into action, as they have already lost the plot to defend the Scudetto title.

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne is set to start after a two-week personalised therapy programme after recovering from a major injury.
