Napoli are set to extend Scott McTominay’s stay at the club for the forseeable future and are ready to make him the leader of the group.
Il Matino (via Calcio Napoli 24) reports that the Neapolitans have set an internal deadline to review McTominay’s impact since joining the side last season, ending a seven-year relationship with Premier League outfits Manchester United. The club is determined to offer the Scottish midfielder a contract extension, that will keep him at the club beyond the length of his current deal which ends in 2028.
The 29-year-old is one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe, and Napoli are looking to tie him down to a new contract before competitor clubs arrive for his signature in the summer.
McTominay has travelled to Scotland during the international break, and the Naples-based side will start talks with him as soon as returns. He has previously indicated towards prolonging his tenure with Napoli since his he and his family likes the atmosphere around the city and the club, where he found a rejuvenation.
