Napoli welcome Kevin De Bruyne to training after months of injury

Serie A side Napoli welcomed star man Kevin De Bruyne back to training today after months of recovery from an injury.

According to an update by Radio Marte, De Bruyne was seen back in the Napoli training centre at Castel Volturno on Monday. The Belgian midfielder did some gym work and this return marks a positive recovery development for him, indicating that the worst part of the injury is behind him now.

The former Manchester City man suffered a serious injury to the biceps femoris of his right thigh while converting a penalty during a high-stakes clash against Inter in October. De Bruyne underwent surgery in Antwerp and remained out of Italy for most of his recovery. However, he is back in training, but is set to go through a personalised final-stage recovery programme for two weeks before returning on the pitch.

De Bruyne will subsequently rejoin group sessions and he will only be used by manager Antonio Conte after achieving complete fitness. Nonetheless, this is a positive sign for Napoli, which has struggled to consolidate momentum this season to fight for their Scudetto defence.
