Nottingham Forest have intensified their pursuit of Napoli left-back Mathias Olivera, submitting an improved offer to the Partenopei in an attempt to bring the Uruguayan to the Premier League.
According to AreaNapoli, the English side raised their initial bid of โฌ15 million, presenting a new proposal that remains, however, below the โฌ20 million mark. Despite the improved terms, Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has issued a firm rejection to the approach.
A significant factor in the refusal is the stance of manager Antonio Conte. As of now, the Italian tactician has blocked Oliveraโs exit, viewing him as an essential component of the squad. Conte particularly values the 28-year-oldโs versatility, as he can effectively cover both the left-back position and act as a left-sided center-back in a three-man defense when required.
While Forest remain keen on the defender, Napoli appear unwilling to weaken their defensive rotations midway through the season, especially given the playerโs tactical importance to Conteโs system.
