Roma have stepped up their pursuit of Yannick Carrasco, submitting a formal verbal offer to Al-Shabab as they look to bring the Belgian winger back to European football.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy for the 32-year-old. Carrasco, who previously excelled at Atletico Madrid, has expressed a strong desire to return to a more competitive league, spurred by the hope of playing at the World Cup.
However, a significant hurdle remains in the form of the playerโs salary. Carrasco currently earns approximately โฌ13 million gross per year in Saudi Arabia, a figure that far exceeds Romaโs typical wage structure. For the move to materialize, the Belgian would likely need to accept a substantial pay cut or Al-Shabab would have to subsidize a portion of his wages.
Despite the financial complexity, Roma are pushing ahead with the operation, viewing Carrasco as a high-quality reinforcement for Gian Piero Gasperiniโs attacking flank.
