Serie A giants Roma picked up a dominant 5-2 win over Udinese and continued their march upwards in the project under Gian Piero Gasperini.
They now find themselves at third in the table, only behind Inter and Lazio but face a big challenge in the form of Manchester United in the Champions League in midweek.
Bryan Cristante, who scored in the first half against Udinese, spoke about the upcoming tie and he made it clear that despite their struggles, Manchester United canโt be taken for granted at all.
The Italian told DAZN โ via VoceGiallorossa: โYes, but itโs still Manchester United. Theyโre a strong team with a lot of quality players. It will be very difficult to play at their home ground, because theyโll want to do well and certainly bounce back.โ
โBut weโll go there and try to bring it home, as we always do. Weโre taking it game by game, and clearly getting a positive result would be crucial for our Champions League position.โ
He also looked at Romaโs performance against Udinese, appearing proud that the Giallorossi score a lot of goals regularly.
โYes, definitely. Weโre scoring a lot and creating a lot, and thatโs very important. Itโs clear that if you score, itโs easier to win. So, the longer we can keep this up, the better.โ
Cristante was also asked about whether Roma can keep up their performances until the end of the season.
He responded: โWeโre trying, of course. Itโs difficult; there are so many games and so many strong teams. But if we play like this, we have a chance. We have to compete to stay there as long as possible. Itโs not easy; thereโs so much at stake, but as long as weโre there, weโll do everything we can to be there.โ
Roma have won once in three Champions League games. They did impress a lot against Real Madrid but fell prey to an impressive, late comeback from Los Blancos.
Manchester United have won just twice in all competitions and lie in complete contrast to the Giallorossi, who will come as a positive for Gasperini.
