Serie A side Milan announced Ruben Amorim as their new manager yesterday. But just 24 hours later, it seems like there could be trouble brewing for the Portuguese and the Rossoneri.
It felt like incoming sporting director Markus Krosche was behind Amorimโs candidacy and Milan had acted swiftly to seal the deal for the ex-Manchester United.
La Gazzetta dello Sport echo this sentiment. They are clear that Eintracht Frankfurt will not release the German and this news has hit the Rossoneri like a bolt from the blue.
Until earlier this year, it seemed like a matter of compensation only. Milan had stepped up those efforts and were quite confident of getting a deal done done and finally getting a new sporting vision. Krosche was set to come in as a technical director and his colleague at the Eagles โ Timmo Hardung was going to come as a sporting director.
The two had given an approval to hire Amorim and were to the appointment.ย
A similar stance is provided by Luca Cerchione, who has been very close to matters around Amorim.
He claims that it was Krosche who recommended Amorim in the first place. Eintracht Frankfurt are now enraged that they were not kept up to date with the developments and have responded to this a massive financial demand. This has blown Milan out of the water and the deal has very likely fallen through.

A constant theme visible
This is quite definitive of the problems that are constantly lingering at Milan. There are regular ego battles that let managers down and Amorim can find himself in a difficult situation before he has actually managed a single game.
There is every chance that the next manager may not align with his ideas either. This is the risk that comes with hiring a manager first and having a sporting director in charge after that. Milan have done exactly that.
