Serie A side Roma find themselves in a bit of a crisis. They are slipping away from the top four and tensions flared on Friday, as Claudio Ranieri and Gian Piero Gasperini were battling publicly.
The two made statements almost mocking each other, following the managerโs comments over the transfers made this season.
La Gazzetta dello Sport today report that the two will meet each other on Monday during Roma training. Whether they iron out the problems between themselves remains to be seen but it is clear that the clubโs Friedkin ownership has a decision to make.
The report adds that the ownership didnโt appreciate a lot of what Gasperini said. In fact, they havenโt always been keen on how he has appeared confrontational throughout the campaign, calling out transfers or the lack of deals that fit his style.
Jose Mourinho used to do quite the same and this led to his eventual sacking. It isnโt to say that Gasperini will meet the same fate but his approach isnโt winning over too many in the Italian capital.
It is believed this isnโt in line with โcompany policyโ at Roma. They are especially not impressed with how he skipped a press conference after the Roma game, as reasons about it remain largely unknown.
Gasperini believes he is doing the most he can with a team that is young and struggling with injuries. A crucial bone of contention is also the fact that the Italian was hired in the belief that he will develop young players. Ranieri hinted at the same but the way things are going, Gasperini isnโt on board with signing young talents and wants established players.
