UEFA Open Disciplinary Proceedings Against Roma

UEFA announced that “disciplinary proceedings have been opened” in regards to “racist behavior (monkey chants)” by Roma fans during the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 18 October.

The chants occurred at the end of the match in the 89th minute and were directed at Antonio Rüdiger, who played at Roma for two seasons. The German defender even spoke out about racism as he made the move to Chelsea this summer, “Racism is a serious issue here [in Italy]. When the Italian FA is not doing anything then FIFA must act.”

This case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 16 November.
