Having won the Chinese league title with Guangzhou Evergrande, Fabio Cannavaro has expressed a desire to work closer to home because the challenges facing coaches are much more difficult.Â
“My goal is to find my way back to Europe, to measure myself against the best, but I have to be ready and therefore gain experience,” Cannavaro told Sky Italia. “I’m doing my internship in China where I started in the second tier, I have promoted a team and then got them to the Champions League. Now, I can fight to win something.
“China has been a fantastic experience. Chinese football is different, where you don’t have the same intensity and technique that you find in Europe, but in the [Asian] Champions League you face some strong opponents.”
