Inter’s Alexis Sanchez may need surgery

Inter have released a statement after Alexis Sanchez sustained an injury whilst on international duty with Chile.

The forward, on loan from Manchester United, was substituted in the 88th minute of Chile’s 0-0 friendly draw with Colombia at the weekend.

“Alexis Sanchez underwent medical tests earlier this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano,” read the announcement on the Inter official website.

“Results revealed a joint dislocation in his left ankle which has caused damage to the peroneus longus tendon.

“The player will meet for further consultations with Professor Ramon Cugat in Barcelona on Wednesday, where they will seek to reach a decision on whether surgical intervention is necessary.”
