Acerbi on starting training again on the 18th of May “We are perplexed and bewildered.”

In an interview with Lazio Style Radio, Francesco Acerbi voiced his opposition to government regulations announced on Sunday night, whereby as part of Italy’s ‘phase 2’ plan of action against Covid-19 football clubs would only be allowed to conduct squad training sessions from the 18th of May.

“I don’t want to cause a controversy, but something doesn’t seem right and it’s evident to me. We can go out and run in parks but not in training grounds where you have pitches, dressing rooms, and many opportunities for social distancing. We have an even greater margin of distance than in parks. We are perplexed and bewildered, and I think I speak in the name of all footballers and sportspeople.”

“There is a possiblity, in a secure way, to go to training grounds without breaking the rules so I don’t see any reason why we can’t do it. I’m not trying to be controversial, I just want to understand the reason behind this choice.”
