La Repubblica have reported that Lazio president Claudio Lotito has been asked by the federal court to clarify his comments regarding the nature of Juventus’ win over Inter at the start of March. In an interview with the paper on April 26, he declared that:
“We’re only one point off Juventus, only because of Juventus-Inter, and well, you’ve all seen the game.”
If Lotito is able to provide justifications for his comments, and prove that doubt can be cast over the validity of the match, an investigation will be opened . If not, he could be referred to the federal court for “detrimental comments to the reputation of people, clubs or organisms operating in the remit of the CONI, FIGC, UEFA or FIFA.”
