Paolo Maldini on living with Covid-19: “The body is fighting against an enemy it does not know.”

In a live call on air with Sky Sport Italia, Milan director Paolo Maldini spoke about his experiences having contracted Covid-19 and the challenges faced in recovering from the virus.

“I tried to train at the gym, but after ten minutes I couldn’t do any more. We have to beat this virus as soon as possible and the only way to do it is by avoiding personalisms and thinking of the common good. That’s the only way we’ll all get back to our lives and normality.”

“Fortunately I’m better now, even if I’ve lost my sense of smell and taste. It’s not a normal flu. I know my own body, an athlete knows themselves. It’s a new virus, so the body is fighting against an enemy it does not know. The pain is very strong.”
