Lazio defender apologises to Inter’s Correa: “I just wanted to hug him.”

Lazio defender Luiz Felipe has apologised to his former teammate and Inter forward Joaquin Correa for his actions after the Biancocelesti’s 3-1 win over Simone Inzaghi’s side.

Felipe was sent off after a scuffle following the end of the game and the defender was in tears as well. But he took to Instagram to issue an apology to Correa, saying that he only wanted to joke about the result with his friend and former teammate.

He stated: “At the end of the match, I ended up jumping on Tucu’s shoulders because he is one of the great friends that football has given me. Our families are friends and we have always been very close. I wanted to just hug him and joke about the result, as far as our friendship allows.

“Thinking back, it was not the best time and the most suitable place. I apologise to anyone who felt offended by that gesture and I clarify that I did not want to be disrespectful in any way towards Inter, its fans and its players. It was just an innocent act of a person who has a great affection for Tucu.”

Lazio inflicted Inter’s first loss of the season on Saturday and they themselves rose up to fifth in Serie A, because of the result.
