Milan boss Pioli on Inter draw: “We were brave defensively.”

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has praised the team’s performance against Inter, saying that they were brave while defending and they did well even though they should have relied more on Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Hakan Calhanoglu scored for Inter and celebrated against his former club. Stefan de Vrij’s own goal leveled it up for Milan and while Inter did win another penalty, Lautaro Martinez failed to convert it.

Pioli spoke to DAZN after the game and praised the team’s performance: “We could have relied more on Zlatan, in any case we were dangerous without retreating an inch. Rebic’s recovery is very important, he has essential characteristics for the team. Leao played all the games and was less brilliant than usual.

“We were brave especially in the defensive phase. We attacked with many players in the first half, we showed a great desire to bring home a great result. Only us and Napoli are still unbeaten in the top European leagues.”

The result meant that Milan failed to go above Napoli to the top of the table and Inter failed to cut down the gap between themselves and the Rossoneri.
