Napoli have made an attempt to sign Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari but Inter remain in the hunt too.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Nandez has made it clear to Cagliari that he will not sign a new deal and the club will look to sell him for a transfer fee in January itself.
Napoli meanwhile, have offered a six-month loan deal over the last few days but Cagliari want to insert the obligation to buy permanently in the move. Luciano Spalletti is looking for an aggressive midfielder and Nandez fits that bill.
But Simone Inzaghi sees Nandez as the perfect rotation option for Nicolo Barella and an added option at right wing-back. Inter are the top of Nandez’s wishlist but to make a move happen, Inter will have to move a midfielder on.
