Italy midfielder and Euro 2020 winner Nicolo Barella is said to be a key candidate for Inter’s future captaincy.
This comes from La Gazzetta dello Sport, who talk of how Barella has matured as a player and as a character over the last two seasons with Inter. With Samir Handanovic’s contract at San Siro set to expire in the summer of 2022 and there being no signs of a renewal, Barella is a key candidate to replace him as the next skipper.
While it is still early to confirm who will be the future captain but Barella and Milan Skriniar are key options. The ex-Cagliari has acquired a fair bit of maturity in recent months, having won Serie A with Inter and winning the Euros with the Azzurri and that could help his candidature.
