Roma boss Mourinho on celebration: “Today, I’m not 58. I’m 14.”

Roma boss Jose Mourinho has talked about his celebration following Roma’s late winner against Sassuolo, claiming that he felt like a 14-year-old.

The Portuguese was speaking to DAZN after the Giallorossi’s thrilling 2-1 win in an enthralling game at the Stadio Olimpico. He spoke about the importance of the game and how Stephan El Sharaawy’s goal made it a memorable moment.

He claimed: “During the week I was a liar, saying it wasn’t a special match. But it was a special match. It was a match with a special number for me and I always wanted to remember a match like this for my thousandth game. I lied to everyone.

“It could have ended 6 to 6, 7 to 7, Rui Patricio came up with two miracles, we missed a few goals. Extraordinary game, a tremendous emotion. Today I am not 58, but 14, when you start dreaming of a career in football. It was a child’s race, I apologized to Dionisi, they played a fantastic game.”

Both the sides missed a host of chances in the game and Gianluca Scamacca even had a late equaliser chalked off because the Italian was offside. Roma are now at the top of the league.
