Agent reveals Barcelona winger Ferran Torres was close to joining Juventus

Ferran Torres joined Manchester City after leaving Valencia in the summer of 2020. However, according to one of the player’s representatives, the Spaniard was close to moving to Juventus in the same summer.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Hector Peris Ros, the CEO of Leaderbrock Sports (the agency that represents Torres and several other emerging players), claimed the negotiations with Juve for the 22-year-old winger were at an advanced stage. But with Manchester City entering the race for the forward, he preferred going to England. Elaborating on the story, Ros said:

“It was the summer of 2020, and we knew he (Torres) would leave Valencia for a big European name. With Juve, and in particular with Fabio Paratici, we were so far ahead in the negotiations that we were looking for a home in Turin.

“But the Bianconeri were unable to meet Valencia’s request. Manchester City entered the deal, and Ferran Torres went to England, before returning to Spain, to Barcelona.”
