Arsenal defender Pablo Mari identified as a transfer priority for Monza

Monza have made a great start to the summer transfer window this time, with Arsenal defender Pablo Mari emerging as their next transfer priority.

According to journalist Marco Conterio, Monza are in talks with Arsenal to complete the signing of Pablo Mari.

The report claims that the Brazilian defender intends to leave the Gunners this summer and eyes a move back to Italy following his successful loan spell at Udinese last season.

Having failed to break into the first team of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, the defender earned to loan move to Udinese in the January transfer window of 2022.

During the six-month loan spell, he made 15 appearances for the Friulians, also scoring two goals in the process.

Following the expiry of the loan spell, he returned to England earlier this summer but doesn’t wish to continue there as he apparently understands that he will not be Arteta’s first choice in a packed defensive department.

The 28-year-old centre-back is tempted by the idea of playing for a newly-promoted side, who have already built a formidable squad with the notable signings of Gianluca Caprari, Matteo Pessina, Filippo Ranocchia, and Stefano Sensi ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
