Andrea Belotti “one step away” from joining Roma

The wait for his next transfer has seemingly started to stretch Andrea Belotti‘s patience, with the former Torino star closing in on a summer move to Roma.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Andrea Belotti has agreed to join Roma on a free transfer this summer. However, the Giallorossi management needs to sanction some sales before completing the long-awaited move for the Italy international.

The report claims that Monaco and Nice were also interested in signing the 28-year-old marksman. Furthermore, it is reported that he had better offers from those foreign clubs, but the player has chosen to continue his career in Italy.

Jose Mourinho has always been a huge admirer of the striker, who was one of the central figures in Torino’s attack.

Following the expiry of his contract at the Piedmontese side earlier in the summer, Belotti opted against signing a renewal for Ivan Juric’s side, marking an end to his seven-year spell in Turin.

MLS club Toronto FC contacted the entourage of Belotti over a summer transfer. But the forward, reluctant to leave his homeland, rebuffed the lucrative proposal.

Having agreed to loan Eldor Shomurodov to Bologna, Roma see Belotti as a potential replacement for the Uzbek forward and a deputy for Tammy Abraham.
