Arsenal refused discount to Fiorentina in Lucas Torreira deal

Premier League side Arsenal denied Fiorentina a discount in the Italian club’s permanent move for Lucas Torreira.

While Sky Italia have reported recently that Fiorentina will not sign Torreira on a permanent basis, FirenzeViola have provided more details on why the permanent move didn’t take place.

Last summer, it was Daniele Prade who had held talks for the loan deal for the midfielder. But the talks for the permanent deal with the player’s agent were held by Joe Barone and they didn’t lead to any concrete results. Barone also talked to Arsenal in an attempt to seek discounts for the permanent move. But no common meeting point was found between the two clubs.

Talks for renewing the loan had also taken place with the player’s agent and Fiorentina asked for a discount in wage. They wanted to lower the share that they were paying in the deal. The initial loan deal had stated that Fiorentina’s option to buy will be triggered after 23 appearances.
