Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira confirms Fiorentina exit

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has confirmed that he is leaving Fiorentina this summer.

Torriera spent the whole of the 2021/22 season on loan at La Viola and impressed a lot in the deep midfield role for the club. While Fiorentina did try to sign him on a permanent basis this summer, it has been reported that they will not be able to acquire him on a permanent basis as Arsenal have not budged from their asking price.

Torriera posted a message on social media recently, confirming that he will depart Fiorentina. His message stated: “Dear Fiorentina fans, the time has come to say goodbye.

“It is with great sadness that my relationship with Fiorentina is ending. The club has given me so much love and support all this time. From the beginning they made me feel at home. I discovered a wonderful city that has always been kind to me, both on and off the pitch. They have always shown me affection, respect and for this I will always be grateful to them.”

The midfielder further stated: “Thanks to this trust, I was able to find the continuity and level I wanted. I owe it to my teammates and to all the fans who have given us energy match after match. Know that I have always left everything on the playing field for this club. Special thanks to all the club staff. They are the fundamental building block for the functioning of this institution.”

During his loan stint at La Viola, Torreira made 31 appearances in Serie A for the club and he also scored five times while getting two assists.
