Cristiano Ronaldo close to Manchester United stay

Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo is now close to staying at Manchester United this summer.

Carlo Laudisa has claimed that Jorge Mendes and Ronaldo are now about to resign themselves to the fact that they will not be able to find an agreement with a new team. A key reason for that is United’s move for Ajax’s Antony as the fee in question could have been used to sign Victor Osimhen for Napoli, who could have then signed Ronaldo.

Mendes tried to find alternative options for Osimhen yesterday but the Nigerian’s entourage sent negative and cold signals, making sure that nothing came off. It is suggested that Napoli handled the situation with a lot of diplomacy and handed Osimhen the freedom to act according to his will.

An attempt was made to thrash out a deal with Sporting but nothing concrete came about, bringing negative news for Mendes. Financials of the move can’t be sorted out and it seems as if Ronaldo will have to stay at United, unless a solution from Saudi Arabia comes up over the next couple of weeks.
