Gigio Donnarumma pays tribute to Sinisa Mihajlovic: “I thank you for always believing in me”

Paris Saint-Germain and Italy goalkeeper has paid tribute to Sinisa Mihajlovic, who is no more following a long battle with leukaemia.

Mihajlovic’s family announced the death of the former Bologna and Milan manager, stating that his situation had deteriorated Sunday onwards. But Donnarumma, who has previously been very respectful of Mihajlovic, has paid tribute to the late Rossoneri manager.

The goalkeeper stated on Twitter: “You have always been a warrior and I know how much you fought. I thank you for always believing in me and for everything you told me since the first day we met. You will always be in my heart.”

Donnarumma was only 16 when Mihajlovic had given him his debut and he had given him the confidence to play regularly, despite the presence of other more experienced goalkeepers in the team.

The goalkeeper moved to Paris Saint-Germain from Milan in the summer of 2021, amidst controversy and Mihajlovic had publicly stated the fact that he advised the player about staying at the Rossoneri. After a torrid first season, he has now established himself as a regular at PSG.
