Valencia star Gonçalo Guedes leading name on Roma’s transfer shortlist

Roma are seemingly entering the approaching summer transfer window with a clear set of plans, prioritising the signing of Gonçalo Guedes from Valencia.

As reported by Il Messaggero, Gonçalo Guedes remains the leading name on Jose Mourinho’s priority list at Roma ahead of the summer transfer market.

Though, it is understood that the Giallorossi are more interested in understanding the future of Nicolo Zaniolo at the club before making a concrete decision on the potential arrival of the Portuguese playmaker.

Having made 36 appearances for Los murciélagos in La Liga 2021/22 season, Guedes notched up eleven goals and six assists. At the age of 25, Guedes has emerged as a gem for a Spanish side that has not met the expected high standards in recent campaigns.

Consequently, Guedes has admitted that if an offer arrives for him in the summer, it will be evaluated, meaning that he is open to the idea of leaving Valencia in the upcoming transfer window. Wolverhampton Wanderers are reported to have shown interest in the player, who is bound to Valencia’s terms until June 2023.

If Zaniolo stays, Roma could look to bring in younger prospects as the club has been reportedly monitoring Club Atlético Colón’s Facundo Farías and Bodø/Glimt’s Ola Solbakken for weeks.

The report further suggests that the likes of Amadou Diawara, Gonzalo Villar, Carles Perez and Jordan Veretout might be sold. On the other hand, the Giallorossi are reluctant to sign Sérgio Oliveira on a permanent deal this summer.
