Inter to offer defender a renewal amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham

Inter are being hurried to offer Milan Skriniar a contract renewal amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the growing interest in Milan Skriniar from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur has hurried Inter to offer the defender a contract extension.

As things stand, Skriniar’s current contract at San Siro expires in June 2023.

But the centre-half’s rising reputation among the suitors has been identified as a potential warning by the Inter management.

Consequently, Inter are expected to do everything to avoid losing one of their valued assets for a much more economical price next summer. The club reportedly wants to propose the Slovakian a contract renewal to 2026.

In his new contract, Skriniar, as per the report, will be handed a salary of €4.5million-per-year plus various performance-related bonuses. The report understands it will be a Nicolo Barella-esque extension, where the player will see a gradual rise in his annual wages. The numbers could go beyond €5million-per-year in Skriniar’s case.

The defender has made 27 league appearances for Inter this season. Thanks to his outstanding defensive display against Dusan Vlahovic in Inter’s recent encounter against Juventus, the reigning Italian champions managed to garner all three points. Inter are now considered a favourite to defend their league title this season.
